Short London Breaks - Promotes a Free Walk Along the Thames
Short London Breaks always welcomes the chance to advertise the nourishing outdoors living - and
possibly a city trip in the capital doesnt automatically lend itself to ideas of launching out
and taking in some clear air, but with the development and investiture that has taken place over the past few years into the Thames
walk way, thats just what you can do on a golden bracing day like today.
If you’re just in the metropolis for the weekend then the following walk ticks lots of divers boxes - sight-seeing chances,
culinary treats, culture, and best of all, easy on the budget!
If youre approaching the walk by underground then Id recommend leading off at either London Bridge or Borough stations.
Originating out of either of those pass North tll you strike the The Thames.
Why not start out your explorations by embarking out onto London Bridge itself? Although it doesnt have the beauty of some of the alternative bridges
it does give a key place to take photos of Tower Bridge as well as The Tower of London on the North Bank of the Thames.
Then directing west on the river once more you shouldnt leave out a wander around Borough Market - a solid
treat for all the gastronomes out there who desire inspiration or just something fantastic to nosh on.
The market specialises in goods from lesser parties and growers from around the UK - but it also is
a super place to notice olives from Greeece, cheese from France, Ostrich from South Africa, chillies from Brazil - the list is incessant.
Its a terrific place to discover a sandwich for later on in your walking besides.
Keeping along back to the river you’ll witness some of the happiest aspects of the river from here - with the City of London
offering its strongest entrancing face, including the Lloyds Building, the Gherkin,St Pauls, the Barbican etc etc.
There are a host of affordable eating houses along the river walk at this level - pizza, Greek, up market burger stores also - so
if youre in the market place for a mid-price repast as a treat this is a charming place to choose, and you can love the river prospects at the same time.
Umpteen of the restaurant along here are in the larger chains and so its worth visiting out their websites
for price reduction coupons and budget offers - try Pizza Express, The Real Greek, the Gourmet Burger Kitchen for instance.
Continuing along the Thames Path then you’ll before long meet the rebuilt Globe Theatre on your left and its worth visiting and assessing
the special offers. They do tremendous standing tickets for the evening performances and given the architecture and
atmosphere of the building at around £5 it makes for a memorable night’s amusement even if plays arent your regular thing.
Continuiung our amble along the SOuth Bank, on reaching the Millenium Bridge you’re presented with a pair of options.
Just walking out onto the bridge, again, gives some great photographic chances, but it also permits you to deviate up to St Pauls Cathedral and see
Christopher Wren’s chef-d’oeuvre.
Returning to the Southside there’s more free culture available in the form of the Tate Modern - which always has
a central exhibit in the main hall which generally delights even the most disinterested art viewer.
Just the above should fill at least three hours of your morning, but if youre still keen to hit the pavement further then continue along the river to the South Bank
complex - go into the Royal Festival Hall, up to the 6th floor balcony and relish some of the best panoramas of London. Dont forget to take your camera with you
and this is an afternoon when the budget wont be hit bad at all!.
