Opening a KFC Franchise
I’ve been thinking about opening a fast food franchise. Just couldn’t decide on which to choose. There are either a McDonald’s or a Burger King on the corner of any busy street in a town. There are other small restaurants serving a variety of food. After doing some research, I found that there are few places in my town serving chicken. And who can resist a crispy drumstrick or a spicy wing? I started thinking about opening one of KFC locations in my town. The best of all, there is hardly any competition here.
I decided against opening another unknown restaurant for several reasons. First, there is no name recognition to attract customers. Second, I would have to set up a menu with popular items, find a cook, etc. Third, there is no guarantee that an unknown restaurant will gain popularity with the locals. If there is no reputation, it’s hard to build it in a short time. And this will definitely reflect on profits. KFC is an established name, the menu and advertisement is provided by the franchiser. I will only have to oversee the operations. And there are no close KFC locations or other fast food places that serve primarily chicken. So, I know my franchise is going to be a success from the beginning.
Next thing I started thinking about making my restaurant unique. I want it to be a fun place to visit for both kids and adults, a place where they would want to go several times a week. I found an interesting fact from the history of KFC. The founder, Colonel Sanders, actually took time to travel to many KFC locations and personally teach employees how to prepare chicken. He also took time to talk to customers. This is what I want to do, I want to show that I care.
Next step, finding a location. It really plays a big role in achieving success. The busier the area, the better. KFC locations are usually found across the street from grocery stores, strip malls, or by busy street intersections. I think I found a perfect place between a shopping mall and a gas station. Customers will likely stop by either before doing some shopping or after they stop for gas. I am all set to open a new KFC franchise. Wish me luck!
