Keep Your Caravan Air Conditioning Working Well

When you are out on the open road driving across the country for your vacation, the last thing that you want to worry about is your caravan air conditioning system.  You take it for granted that it is going to be working when you turn it on and want  cold air.  But, occasionally, that doesn’t happen.  There are things that you can do that will minimize the chances of your air conditioner just stopping to work, which could be a real problem, depending on where you are.

A caravan air conditioning system is different from an air conditioner like you have in your window at home.  They both work the same way, using a condenser and coils to cool the air down.  However, for a caravan, these coils and condensers are usually someplace else, instead of one unit like a window air conditioner.  They are quite frequently on the roof of the caravan, or sometimes under the hood.  Another common feature is that both types of air conditioners have filters.

Maintaining the filters in your caravan air conditioning system is the easiest thing you can do to make sure that you air conditioner keeps working.  You should check them at least once a month, gently rinsing them off to get the dirt off.  If they look too dirty or like they are falling apart, you should replace them.  You should replace them at the beginning of each season, after your caravan has been in storage, or after it has been sitting for a prolonged period of time.  Not only will maintaining your filters make your air conditioner last longer, it will also make it work more efficiently, and help keep out dust and other allergens that can other you.

It is important to have a working caravan air conditioning system.  You can’t stay in your caravan in places that are really hot without the caravan becoming dangerously hot.  It is not only a comfort issue to keep your air conditioner running smoothly, it is also a safety issue.  So, play it safe, do all that you can to make sure that your air conditioner is running at its very best.
