Global measures to prevent spread of yellow fever

Travelling from one country from one country to another could be fun especially if you have the money.  Of course you’ll need more money when travelling with your family.  That’s when to take advantage of tour packages offered by travel agencies.  Many want to see wildlife and a good destination will be in Africa.  There are parts of Africa that are endemic to yellow fever and one might ask, ‘do I need yellow fever vaccination for Kenya’?  As long as you are not travelling and coming from any of the endemic areas of that disease then no.  Just make sure though that you do not cross a border that will get you to an endemic part of Africa.  If you intend to, then that’s the time to get a vaccination for yellow fever.  Some bordering countries might have had cases of the disease like in the case of South America.  Having the vaccination will make you feel safer.

Some travellers love to go globe hoping or continent hoping.  Going to Asia some would ask, ‘do I need yellow fever vaccination for Thailand’?  The answer is no.  There is no part in Asia identified to be endemic with yellow fever.  However to avoid quarantine, check if there are any vaccinations needed when going into Thailand.  If Avian Flu vaccination is available then it would be best to have it.  It was one of the countries that were affected by the disease.  Though avian flu has been controlled, it still pops up every now and then in countries affected.  The other countries affected by the disease might require vaccinations for other diseases, so check it out first before travelling to them.
